Test Assessment Program
TAP (for Test Assessment Program) consists of programs and files for use in the collection of data from tests. Though initially intended for tree improvement field tests, the latest version of TAP (Version 3.0) can be used to assess tests of virtually any design and purpose, including field tests, orchards, greenhouse studies, and nursery studies. TAP can be used for mapping new tests as well.
TAP allows you to specify the variables that will be assessed on each tree of a test. You can set a number of properties for each variable in order to customize the assessment to your specific needs, including the variable name, data type, validation criteria, and screen display position on the data logger.
You may optionally use historical data in the assessment. TAP can use this data to validate the current assessment data, and to provide users in the field with additional information to help during the assessment.
TAP allows you to optionally specify the mapped position of trees (i.e., the layout) and the order in which trees will be visited (i.e., the pathway). TAP can also be used without layout and pathway information, allowing you to assess trees sequentially.
How to get it:
TAP is distributed as two programs that are used in conjunction with one another: TAPc and TAPd. TAPc is a Windows-based program intended for your desktop or laptop computer. It is used to create, edit and manage TAP projects. TAPd is a DOS-based program designed for the actual assessment. TAPd is intended to run on a data logger, though it can be used on any computer that can run a DOS program in a DOS window.
